Welcome to Seneca Middle School

Seneca Middle School, located in the beautiful Golden Corner region of South Carolina, is a community of approximately 850 students in grades six through eight. Surrounded by pristine lakes and situated in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, our school is the most ethnically diverse middle school in the School District of Oconee County. We have three feeder elementary schools that are served by our school, one of which is a Title I school: Blue Ridge Elementary (Title I), Northside Elementary, and Ravenel Elementary Schools. Likewise, our middle school feeds Seneca High School in our district. We offer a progressive instructional program with a modified block schedule. All of our students receive 90-minutes of daily math and ELA instruction and 45 minutes of science and social studies instruction. Our school also offers programs such as Junior Beta Club, athletics, symphonic band, honors chorus, and orchestra.

Students take a well-rounded curriculum that allows for the accumulation of high school Carnegie Unit credits in the areas of Algebra I, English I Honors and keyboarding/computer technology. Our school has preeminent fine arts programs (Art, Chorus, Band and Orchestra) that have received numerous accolades and awards and that feed seamlessly into the corresponding programs at Seneca High. Each year we also typically have a handful of students who have been chosen to attend the South Carolina Governor's School of the Arts summer programs in dance, visual and performing arts. Academically, we routinely have a large contingent of students in the district who qualify as South Carolina Junior Scholars, score highly on the Clemson University Biology Merit Exam and achieve State and Grand recognition in the Duke Talent Identification Program.

We are honored and extremely appreciative to have received a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant to fully fund our after-school program. This program, called DEN, serves approximately 100 students for 30 weeks of the school year. The program consists of a daily routine of academic instruction and assistance from certified staff, an after-school snack, two enrichment periods and transportation home afterward. The enrichment periods include financial education, health and physical activity, Lego design and construction, BMX bicycle design and construction, and soft skill training through Junior Achievement.
