Bouncing for Books

The Media Center staff at Seneca Middle School recently faced a good problem to have – where to take 97 students as a reward for participating in a reading program. These students participated in the 2016-2017 South Carolina Junior Book Award Contest sponsored by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians. To participate, they read at least three of the twenty nominated titles over the course of the school year and voted for their favorite title. This year’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade students clamored for the books and the opportunity to read and take part in this yearly contest; which resulted in one of the largest groups to ever qualify for the reward field trip. In the end, the students were treated to a session at the Gravitopia trampoline park in Greenville followed by a scrumptious lunch at Fuddrucker’s of Anderson. All in all, the program proved how rewarding it is to get kids “jumping” for joy over reading.
