Each year all sixth grade students at Seneca Middle School rack their brains and observe the world around them to come up with an idea for an invention to solve a real-world problem. They then work hard to fully develop their idea and produce a sample product to solve that problem. The best 40 inventions were recently presented to a panel of judges at the school’s Family Focus Night. Creativity was shown in abundance with inventions ranging from a popcorn kernel separator to a dog shower and even included a marshmallow shooter. Twenty-five inventors and their inventions emerged from this creative group and will now travel to Greenville on March 6 to compete against many other budding inventors across the Upstate at the Duke Energy Invention Convention. Pictured are the top 25 inventors: front row – 3rd place winner Lana Pierce, 2nd place winner Nikki Dolfis and 1st place winner Megan McConnell; middle row – Chandler Patterson, Conner Henderson, Ethan Chastain, Madelyn LeRoy, Callie Brodie, Grace Orrey, Hailey Hughes, Zach Nicholson, Nathaniel Underwood, Ella Mimms, Jude Patterson, Mekhi Gibson and Emily Edgar; back row – Charlie Wells, Alexander Rich, Brady Bowen, AnnaBelle Bowling, Anna Stodieck, Shelby Cribb, Lacey Edwards, Alexandria Winkler and Olivia Shaw.
