Veterans and those who invited them assemble for a group picture following the SMS Veterans' Day Assembly.
SMS does not have very many assemblies during the school year but you can rest assured that there will always be an assembly in observance of Veterans' Day.  Each year, students faculty and staff invite veterans in their lives to attend  a musical celebration and offering of gratitude to those who have and are currently serving in our armed forces.  This year a record number of veterans and active duty service members - over 90 - entered the gymnasium to a standing ovation and then were treated to a selection of patriotic music performed by various music groups - band, orchestra and chorus -  from both SMS and SHS.  One the these veterans, Jay Bobo, who is also a former SMS teacher, participated as the narrator as the orchestra played "Lincoln at Gettysburg."  Following the playing of Taps, the assembly ended with each service member being escorted out of the gym by the person who invited them to attend.  Thanks to all who were able to attend.
