Students Thrive on Reading Promotion Activities

The Seneca Middle School Media Center provides fun and enriching activities all year long; however, they have certainly been in full force of late - from book club lunches for each grade level to the annual Poetry Slam, a reading program field trip and more. One recent day in particular was a “perfect storm” of reading promotion. Along with their daily duties of working with students and their typical library needs, the staff hosted over 70 sixth graders for their Book Club Lunch then quickly transitioned to setting up for the week-long Buy One, Get One Free Book Fair. While that individual day may have been unusual, there is nothing uncommon about the SMS Media Center trying new things to promote and encourage reading. Based on the levels of student participation, most are quite a success.
