SMS Band Earns Awards

Spring has proven to be a rewarding time for the Seneca Middle School band program. Not only did the Symphonic band, made up of select seventh and eighth grade band students, achieve a Superior rating at Concert Performance Assessment, but the program also had many stellar performances from both individual and ensemble groups at the Solo & Ensemble competition. These results qualified the program for the Outstanding Performance Award for the second year. The Seneca Middle School band program is directed by Mr. Jason Ray.

Representing Seneca Middle School at the Solo & Ensemble competition were talented musicians who performed either as a soloist and/or in a duet. Their results were: Solos - Elise Halbig (French horn) – Superior, Ellie Cannon (trombone) – Superior, Evan Cathcart (trombone) – Superior, Kolby Scruggs (tuba) – Superior, Madelyn Lee (Marimba) – Superior, Madelyn Lee (Timpani) – Superior; Duets - Rylee Williams (flute) and Shreya Santhanam (flute) – Superior, Jocelyn Pronovost (clarinet) and Logan O'Kelley (flute) – Excellent, Alexis Burson (clarinet) and Kyleigh Evatt (French horn) – Excellent, Ellie Cannon (trombone) and Evan Cathcart (trombone) – Superior, Meredith Carpenter (trumpet) and Bailey Walters (tuba) – Superior, Rylee Williams (flute) and Craig White (mallets) – Superior, Taylor Sheriff (flute) and Jadiss Nicholson (flute) – Superior.
